Why is the management of medicines important?

The EYFS contains specific legal requirements for the management of medicines. It states that we need to:

  • Have and implement a policy and procedure for the administration of medication.
  • Have systems that enable us to capture information about children’s medical needs.
  • Ensure that staff have the training they need to administer medication when appropriate.
  • Have ways of ensuring that we have parental permission to administer medication and that they are informed when medicines have been given.
  • And that we keep records of any medication that we administer.

So, we've created a handy set of documents and templates to help you do just that...
